Welcome to Aquila Private Game Reserve & Spa, a family-friendly Big 5 safari experience close to Cape Town, South Africa. We prioritise the fun and enjoyment of nature, and have created a world-class safari lodge where the entire family (young and old) can learn about the importance of conservation, see South Africa’s incredible wildlife, and explore the Aquila’s safari activities.

While we encourage families to make the most of their time at Aquila, we kindly request that those visiting with children show respect for other guests and follow certain protocols when using our restaurant facilities or embarking on a safari adventure.

Aquila's Children Policy

Aquila’s safari lodge and traditional game drives do not have a minimum age restriction. Guests of all ages are welcome at Aquila Private Game Reserve.
Aquila offers activities and entertainment for children at the Kids Adventure Zone. Activities include mini golf, giant chess, a sandpit, a wooden playground, puzzles, toys, and even electronic games — just to name a few.
A childminding service (from 09h00 to 09h00) is available at an additional charge. Please enquire at reception.
Aquila offers a Junior Ranger Programme for children (ages 12 and under) at an additional charge. Enquire at reception for daily schedules.
Children of all ages are allowed on Aquila’s traditional, 4×4 vehicle safari experiences.
A minimum age restriction of 16 years is applicable for Tranquila Spa access and treatments, Quad Bike safaris, and Horseback outrides.
All swimming activities and use of Aquila’s swimming pools must be supervised by an adult (18 years and older) at all times.

Family and Child-Friendly Accommodation

Only certain accommodation options and overnight packages include children’s access. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with these options when booking your accommodation at Aquila Private Game Reserve and Spa.
Babies and toddlers, ages 0 to 3 years old, can be accommodated in Aquila’s portable folding cots. Cots are available in all of Aquila’s accommodation options.
Family-friendly accommodation at Aquila includes the family lodge rooms, family cottages, and premier lodge rooms.
Aquila’s Family Cottages allow for child-friendly accommodation in a loft room, while our Premier Lodge Rooms offer a sleeper couch for children ages 0 – 11 (maximum 02 adults and 01 child).

Children Ages 3 to 11:

Premier Lodge Rooms + sleeper couch: (Maximum of 2 Adults + 01 child under 12)
Family Lodge Rooms: (Maximum of 4 Adults + 01 child under 12)
Family Luxury Cottages: (04 Sleeper) – Minimum of 02 Adults + 01 Child
Family Luxury Cottages: (08 Sleeper) – Minimum of 04 Adults + 01 Child.
Premier Cottages: 04 – 06 pax, with twin beds, sharing (bunk beds).

Children Ages 12 - 17:

Family Luxury Cottages (04 Sleeper) – Minimum of 02 Adults + 01 Children
01 Main Bedroom (Queen Bed) with ensuite + 02 Singles in loft
Family Luxury Cottages (08 Sleeper) – Minimum of 04 Adults + 01 Children
Family Luxury Cottages with 2x Main Bedrooms (double beds with ensuite) + 04 single beds in loft (with ensuite).
Premier Cottages: 04 – 06 pax, with twin beds, sharing (bunk beds).

Pricing For Children

Children aged 3 and under: free with accompanying adults.
Children aged 4 to 11: 50% of the day or overnight per person (pps) rate.
Children 12 and older pay adult rates.
Please bring your child’s I.D, birth certificate, or passport on arrival. Identification will be checked at reception during check-in.

Childen's Facilities and Activities

Aquila is a malaria-free reserve, providing a safe environment for your family’s stay. Your little explorers can play in the vast open spaces of our communal grass area, or immerse themselves in endless excitement at our Kids Adventure Zone, which offers a variety of activities to keep them entertained for hours.

For added convenience and peace of mind, we also offer child-minding services upon request and subject to an additional fee. This service allows parents to relax and fully enjoy the exceptional facilities and services Aquila has to offer while ensuring a secure and enjoyable stay for their children.
